Four Of The World's Most Cursed Movies
Hollywood has been making movies for our entertainment since 1911. Most of the time, these films are completely normal without a sordid past or a disturbing creation. Other times, some movies undergo some very unfortunate circumstances that mark them as haunted or cursed movies. So, without further ado, here are four of the worlds most cursed movies.
4. The Exorcist (1973)
William Friedkin’s 1973 Film The Exorcist is an American supernatural horror film that, in its original run, grossed $193 Million. All these years later, after numerous re-releases, it has reached $441 million.
The movie is about 12-year-old, Regan who gets possessed by a demon after talking to it on an Ouija board. Known for classic and yet disturbing scenes, the film has always been considered a classic. However, sometimes the subjects of these films can bring bad things towards those involved. It is believed that the nature of the subject matter of this film is the origin of why it is cursed.
How is the movie cursed? Well, after a series of misfortune, accidents, injury, and even death during filming and afterward, it’s hard to believe that the film is not cursed. These events were explainable, such as the fire that burned down the set of the McNeil home during filming that spared only Regan’s room. There were several injuries on set, which included Linda Blair fracturing a vertebrae and Ellen Burstyn’s back injury. Several people who were involved in production died during or shortly after filming. Some strange events connected, like a bird flying into a fuse box that started the fire and an extra being a suspect in a series of unusual killings.
3. Poltergeist (1982)
Poltergeist is an American supernatural horror film from 1982, written by Steven Spielberg among others. The film became the eighth highest grossing film of the year, and has since been known as a classic. The movie, follows the Freeling family, living in the planned community of Cuesta Verde, California, and the haunting they experience in the newly built home.
If you are a horror fan, or a movie buff chances are you have seen this movie, but do you know the dark history surrounding the film? It quickly is revealed that the community was built on a relocated burial ground, and to make things more authentic, the creators were rumored to have used real life skeleton’s in the iconic pool scene.
Because of this, and the nature of the film’s subject, the movie has been deemed as cursed. Why? Well, like the movie before, there have been a series of misfortune, injuries, and unexplained deaths during or shortly after the filming of the movie and that of its sequels. Firstly, the star, Dominique Dunne who played Dana Freeling, was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 1982. Heather O’Rourke who played Carol Ann, died after complications with bowel obstruction, four months before the release of the third instalment.
Julian Beck, who played the evil preacher Kane in the second movie died of stomach cancer shortly after the filming of the second movie. To make things even worse, Will Sampson, who played Taylor the Native American Shaman, died in 1987, after undergoing a heart-lung transplant. Besides death, another unusual event was connected to the movie. Will Sampson, who was a real-life medicine man was said to have performed an authentic exorcism after filming one night. Could these things just be a mere coincidence, or is there something more going on here?
