5 Haunted Paintings You Don't Want to Own

5. The Hands Resist Him
This painting was done by the artist, Bill Stoneham in 1972. It was first owned by actor John Marley, but following his death, it found its way to an old brewery, where it was found by an elderly California couple. The painting appeared on eBay, in February 2000. The owners of the painting claiming it carried some kind of curse or haunting. They claimed that in the night, the boy in the painting would get out of it, and enter the room in which it was hung. That the doll in the painting would come to life, and even hold a gun to the boy, forcing him out of the painting.
Of course, Stoneham says that the object mistaken for a gun is really a cell battery with some loose wires. Though he does recall, that the art gallery owner and the first critic of the painting died one year after coming in contact with it.
Some people have reported feeling ill or have experienced this even viewing a picture of the painting online. The painting is the first in a series of paintings. 4. The Crying Children
These paintings were massively produced in the 1950s. They depict different children, (some boys, some girls) that are crying. All of these paintings have been connected to severe house fires, some even injuring family members. However, in each case, the painting itself has remained unharmed. People have blamed the paintings for the fires, and this has been backed up by firefighters.
Although, there has been a logical explanation given about why the paintings have survived the fires. The explanation is that the paintings have been covered in a varnish that contains a fire retardant. 3. Portrait of Bernardo De Galvez

The portrait is of the Spanish military leader Bernardo de Galvez. It is believed that the way the portrait has been painted has caused certain discomfort. It is said that Bernardo de Galvez died in strange circumstances on November 30th, 1786. The painting is on display at the end of a corridor located in the Galvez Hotel in Galveston, which is said to be extremely haunted. But, the most intriguing and terrifying stories surround this portrait.
It is said that the portrait's eyes follow guests as they pass it. If anyone gets too close to it, they experience feelings of being uncomfortable and feeling extremely cold. 2. Love Letters' Replica
There isn't much information on this particular painting. But, legend has it that in 1887 a U.S. Senator lost his four-year-old daughter, who fell down the stairs in the place where this painting has hung. Some people believe that this four-year-old girl is the person who haunts this painting.

1. The Rain Woman
While creating the painting, the artist had a strange feeling come over her. It was almost as if there was an invisible force guiding her. Not long after she sold the painting did the new owners return it.
The new owner complained about the strange activity surrounding the painting. She complained of insomnia, fear, sadness, and being watched while near the painting. To view The Rain Woman click the link.
