UFO Sightings That Will Make You Think

Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs have been spotted in the sky since ancient Egypt. The scary thing about these objects is that we usually don't know what they are, or more importantly, where they came from. While many have been debunked, there are still many stories of UFOs that have not been explained.

Sunday, February 2021, was a normal day for most of us. But not for American Airlines Flight 2292. It was around 1pm when something cylindrical in shape flew over the plane. It was spotted by the pilot, and he called it in. So far, no one knows what this object was. However, planes seeing UFOs is not as uncommon as you might think. It's about as uncommon as any of us seeing a UFO in the sky.

Here are some other incidents where UFOs were spotted in the sky. Though they are not guaranteed to be authentic, some may even be hoaxes. But, it's the reports we are looking for, and there are plenty of those. Here are a few:

4. Aztec, New Mexico

This incident was often referred to as the other Roswell. Allegedly, an aircraft crash-landed here in 1948. Well, at least it crash-landed near there. It happened in March 1948, when a UFO carrying sixteen humanoid bodies were recovered by the military after a “controlled” landing.

The craft measuring about 99 feet in diameter and the bodies were taken by the military to a secret location for research. However, like Roswell, this incident didn't “happen” and has been written off as a hoax. However, this might just be part of the cover-up, but probably not as the men in the story originated from were charged with fraud.

3. McMinnville, UFO Photographs

The photographs were taken by Paul and Evelyn Trent on their farm which was located in Sheridan, Oregon which is 9 miles southwest of McMinnville. Some skeptics believe that the photos are a hoax, but some ufologists claim that the photos are authentic.

It all started on May 11th, 1950, at 7:30pm, Evelyn Trent who had just gotten finished feeding her caged rabbits was walking back to the main farmhouse. When she noticed a slow-moving metallic disc in the sky and heading in her direction. Evelyn called for her husband to join her. Paul watched the object for a few seconds before running back inside for the camera. Paul managed to snap two pictures of the craft before it sped away.

2. The Washington Incident

Also known as the Washington Flap, the Washington National Airport sightings, and the Invasion of Washington. The Washington Incident. It was a series of UFO sightings in July of 1952. Project Blue Book nor the Air Force have never before or after received so many reports of UFOs.

These UFOs were spotted on the radar when no known aircraft was in the sky, and they weren't following flight plans either. These were on multiple radarscopes, at multiple places all at the same time. The UFOs movements were also radical when compared to an ordinary aircraft. The radars were reported as functioning normally, and yet here these objects were. Some people even reported seeing a bright light in the sky. It wasn't until the objects moved over the White House and the United States Capitol did Harry Barnes a senior air traffic controller called it into Andrews Air Force Base, located about 10 miles from the National Airport where the first sighting occurred. Andrews Air Force had at first reported no strange objects on their radar, but that quickly changed. An airman called the base's control tower to report seeing a strange object in the sky. It was a giant orange ball of fire with a trailing tail. However, as he alerted the tower, the ball took off at tremendous speed.

It was on one of the National Airport runways that Capitol Airlines pilot S.C. Pierman was waiting for clearance to take off when he spotted what appeared to be a meteor. When he called it in he was told that the control tower's radar had detected UFOs that were closing in on him. He had witnessed six white, tailless, lights that were moving at an alarming rate. This happened within a fourteen-minute window. Pierman was in contact with Barnes as this was going on. Each object appearing on the radarscope, but when he reported that the light sped away the object had disappeared from the radar.

At Andrews Air Force base they were tracking what they thought was UFOs in the sky. Some skeptics claimed that these weren't UFOs but rather meteors and stars. However, staff Sgt. Charles Davenport had observed an orange-red light to the south. This orange-red light would seem to hover, then make an abrupt change in both direction and altitude. This object behaved in this manner several times in minutes. All of the radarscopes tracked this same object as it hovered over a radio beacon. Then quite suddenly the object vanished from all radarscopes at the exact same time.

Around 3 am, two US Air Force F-94 Starfire jet fighters that had come from Newcastle Air Force in Delaware had arrived over Washington. The objects simply vanished from the sky as if they were monitoring radio traffic and behaving accordingly. However, when the jets ran low on fuel and had to leave, the objects simply returned. These objects were last detected around 5:30 am, and then as quickly as they came, they were gone.

1. Mariana UFO incident

This sighting had occurred in August of 1950, in Great Falls, Montana. The live film footage of this UFO sighting is believed to be the first-ever of its kind. The film was investigated by the U.S. Air Force who claims that it is simply reflections of two F-94 jet fighters.

Around 11:25 am, on August 15th, 1950 was when Nick Mariana, who was the general manager of the Great Falls Electrics minor league baseball team, and his secretary, 19-year-old Virgina Raunig spotted the UFO in the sky. They had been inspecting Legion Stadium Baseball Field when the incident occurred.

A bright flash had caught Nick's eye, and when he looked up he saw two bright silvery objects rotating and flying over Great Falls at an alarming speed. He believed that the speed of the UFOs was between 200 and 400 miles per hour. He also claimed that the objects were about 50 feet wide and 150 feet apart. Somehow he had enough time to run to his car to fetch the 16mm camera and film the UFOs for a total of 16 seconds. His camera though it could capture in color was not capable of capturing sound. Virgina saw the objects in the sky that day as well.
